I was privileged to participate in a book art workshop with Cheryl Penn.  It was some time before I began to make unique artists books using old etchings, recycled, handmade paper and embroidery techniques.

I love the irregularities of handmade books, and the possibilities of playing with scale and proportion.  Little books that rest in the palm of your hand and bulky books that burst at the seams and simply won’t behave at all as a book should.

There is also something very appealing about the tactility of the handmade book in the day of electronic media which is so cold, hard and glassy, and the way the book doesn’t disappear if you push the wrong button!
